STANDARD-DEFINITION TELEVISION HDTV camera: the lens to be or not to be?

The fundamental difference between SDTV and HDTV is bound to in the main question, the term "high definition". This means that the HDTV differs from traditional video, especially the more "definitions"--that is, producing much higher image sharpness. No debate on the mixing of STANDARD products with HDTV products must be carefully examined in terms of its impact on the aspect of "high definition" the last slides. Unlike digital cameras and recorders, which make up the modern Digital Imaging systems lens is completely analog technology. It's a very physical technology, in the broadest sense of the word. The lens is also a dynamic – in view of the substantial degree of control can be exercised over the image of the object, which represents the image sensors for camera.
These changes the level of light, focus and the Central range of the lens, so with some technical penalties. This paper is intended to review the "definition of" emphasis will be placed on the behavior of the resolution of the lens. This is useful to provide some metrics for image "definition of" optical concepts. Audio and video systems (such as the television cameras) are described by a specific bandwidth and response system for frequency ranges are encompassed within their respective bandwidths. A similar approach can be used to describe the performance of the resolution of the lens.

OPTICAL BANDWIDTH
Lens contrast and resolution are inextricably intertwined. A series of tightly alternation of black and white lines are visually distinguished by their relative contrast each other. How to gradually reduced their thickness and spacing of our human visual system is instructed to distinguish between these alternating rows. At a given time, we fail to do so, and blur in a grey Flash. The same occurs to the test chart object scene passes through the lens. How alternating rows increase in spatial frequency of their optical representation of the lens will show progressive-ro simplistically as illustrated in

Figure 1. In other words, the contrast of the reproductive ability of the lens is adjusted as a function of the fineness of detail alternating black and white lines. This particular form of camera output is technically known as the modulation Transfer Function – or an MTF. The horizontal axis represents the spatial frequency (more details from left to right) in Line pairs per millimeter (Lp/mm). The vertical axis is the contrast (the amplitude of black on white) the production of optical lens image.
