Guide to getting connected

Step 1: ensure that your wireless device with a compatible wireless adapter.
Ensure that your wireless device, such as a laptop computer, personal digital assistant (PDA), mobile phone, etc. is IEEE 802 .11b/g (Wi-Fi) a compatible network adapter. Most newer wireless devices have built-in wireless adapters. If your wireless device does not have Wi-Fi network adapter, you will need to buy a separate adapter. Below are some examples of external Wi-Fi adapters.Check the manufacturer of your device the correct type of Wi-Fi adapter for purchase. If you have an external adapter, make sure that the driver for that adapter is properly installed before proceeding with the steps above. Contact the owner's manual and the software that comes with external wireless adapter for instructions. Ensure that the driver and related software is working before continuing.


Step 2: Verify that your wireless adapter is turned on.
For portable computers with built-in wireless adapters ensure that included key for a wireless connection, which is usually physically located at the front or side of the laptop.
